Hoo-rah for ranunculus!

Ranunculus have to be one of my favourite flowers. So delicate and yet so solid with their masses of petals, it's hard to believe that they are related to the buttercup. And joy of joys, they were only £1.50 a bunch from the flower stand in the market this afternoon. I have to say that I am more than happy to forego a scrummy cafe au lait for a week of this bunch of joy.

  1. I always feel that Ranunculus is rather an ugly name for such a pretty flower. I vote for 'Corsican Buttercup'.

  2. Tee hee - I'd never really thought about it but it does sound rather like a strain of flu! Corsican buttercup does indeed sound prettier.

  3. I look for these locally ALL the time and they never appear in my town. Such a shame because I adore them.
I am living-it-up with anemones and primulas instead, i love that such beautiful flowers can be bought for so few pennies, yet the joy they bring is immeasurable.
