Ladybird poppy

Back in April, I got a little carried away and forgot that we going to be having some work done to the house. Confronted with a South-facing garden, I bought three poppies. I love huge, blousey poppies. I proudly planted them in front of our sitting room.

And then the scaffolders arrived. Who don't really care for poppies quite as much as I do. Poppy 1 was slightly trampled but survived, poppy 2 remained unscathed but unimpressed and poppy 3 sadly felt the full force of the scaffolding.

Now that the scaffolding has gone, poppy 2 has lots of buds and the first flowered today. Ever so exciting.

Next year, we'll have lots of poppies. And far less scaffolding.
