Chelsea Flower Show 2014 - Main Avenue

No Man's Land - ABF The Soldiers' Charity/Charlotte Rowe
This garden received a huge amount of press. Conceptual messaging aside, I thought the water basin hugely impactful and found the shady planting beautiful.
Brewin Dolphin/Matthew Childs
Not a massive fan of the structures, but I did like the planting scheme. There was a lot of blue/purple running through all of the gardens.
Laurent-Perrier Garden/Luciano Giubbilei
So, this won the coveted Best in Show. Now…what you can't see is the random, miniature Ayers rock which I'm sure has huge significance…I was more interested in trying to work out how to get to the champagne...
The Telegraph Garden/Tommaso del Buono & Paul Gazerwitz
My favourite garden on Main Avenue - formal with a whiff of scatty. Very Italian. I do love box balls - it stems from being allowed to run free with the shears at my grandparents when I was little. Tad high maintenance. Most of the gardens had their designers on hand which was lovely.
Monty on the RBC Waterscape Garden/Hugo Bugg
Ahhh. Monty. This made our Chelsea. As did the moment when one of the cameramen asked if we wanted to do a piece to camera…errrr no...
Brand Alley/Paul Hervey-Brookes
Not wild about the Italian theme but did love the long, jam packed border running alongside the hard landscaping.
Time to Reflect - Homebase and The Alzheimer Society/Adam Frost
A cause dear to my heart, this felt tranquil and reflective. The irises were a delightful pop of colour underneath the trees.
