Ruffled feathers

We've found three of these beautiful feathers in the garden recently and haven't a clue who might have lost them. Any ideas?

p.s. Miss P's pillow is a mouse.

  2. They're very interesting feathers. We only ever seem to get pigeon feathers in our garden.

I look your new banner for spring - it's colourful.

  3. They look huge as well as bright. I haven't the faintest idea, but I'm sure if you see the bird, you'll know where they came from!

  4. Could they be from Parakeets? When we lived in South East London our bird feeder was often visited by Ring Necked Parakeets which roost in their hundreds in Hither Green Cemetery. They are however bright green with red beaks, and not red....

This interesting Guardian article on the growth of London Parakeets may help.

  6. Hello ! Been reading for ages but this post has prompted me to comment - I think these might be from scarlet macaws.....an escapee from captivity maybe? Not sure that they can breed successfully in the wild in britain.

    Really enjoy reading your blog.

  7. Mystery feathers. I have no idea. But I like the idea of wild parrots.
Makes a colourful change from boring grey and black ones.
