A good read

You can't beat a good book and a patch of warm sun. The perfect way to unwind. I don't know about you, but over the years I've accumulated enough books to open a library. Our temporary bookshelves are heaving with double stacked books waiting to be read, and yet I can't resist buying more. Charity shops are my downfall. As is the current book offer with the Telegraph on a Saturday. Each week you can pick up a recommended book for £2.99 at WHSmith. This week it's Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, one of my favourite authors (I can wholly recommend Half of a Yellow Sun, which has apparently been turned into a film starring Thandie Newton and is out this year). So far I've picked up Five Star Billionaire by Tash Aw (thoroughly enjoyed) and The Red House by Mark Haddon (waiting to be read). Quite a fun take on a weekly book club if you were up to the 'book a week' challenge.

Are you a member of a book club? Are you doing the 52 book challenge?

  1. Oh I am the same, I look at our accumulated book collection and think, I really must start reading them before I add any more! I hope you enjoy this book and it looks like a good summer is coming so hopefully lots more reading xx

  2. I thought I'd already commented but it's not here!
I'm a member of a book group and this months read is looking promising The Accidental Apprentice by Vikas Swarup (Slumdog Millionaire), I've just finished A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry which was excellent - I'm putting your recommendations on my Amazon wishlist!
