King and Queen

I have always loved Henry Moore. The tactile lines, the grandeur. We stumbled across The King and Queen regally looking out over the Canal at Wisley. Cast in 1953, this edition is the artist's copy. Rather touchingly, Moore explains the inspiration behind the sculpture - "I realise now that it was because I was reading stories to Mary, my six year old daughter, every night, and most of them were about kings and queens and princesses..." You can read more about the sculpture here. Have you ever been to Perry Green? It's on my 'places to visit' list. It breaks my heart each time you hear another sculpture has been stolen.
