Do you ever judge a book by it's cover?

I do. Constantly. It often gets me into trouble - mostly because I pick up books which I've forgotten that I've read. Anyway, this Virago book with its wistful cover caught my eye recently in a local charity shop and is providing some much needed escapism from the day job.

Angel, Slaney, Birdie et al seem to be having a fractious time of it in the large house on the cliff. Julian has just arrived home and poor old Tiddley's already locked herself in the potting shed to sob over his letters and her broken heart. It's all go!

  1. I do have a terrible tendency to judge books by their covers! Not familiar with this one, must have a look... K x

  2. I loved the old covers they used to do for murder mysteries that showed a scene from the crime and people either dead or looking shocked...murder mystery covers are much more symbolic these days...and rather naff looking in my opinion - they don't lure you in as much...

  3. I'm glad I don't have any letters to weep over. I wouldn't fit in the shed for all the garden chairs and power tools.

  4. Oh, I know what you mean about The Lure of the Book Cover. And I frequently buy books I've already read, even when they have the same cover. Haven't read that one, though. At least, I don't think I have.
