A brilliant Bavarian find - Stein's

With a German mother-in-law, we always keep an eye out for good German fare in London. So when Mr M and I spied a German menu on the river walk coming home from Kingston the other weekend, we were rather excited.

Fast forward to Saturday and our stroll into Kingston to watch the cycling. Spotting that Stein's were open (with a brilliant sun deck overlooking the river) we found ourselves perched on a traditional Bavarian beer table, with a pint of Paulaner Helles and a plate of meat and cheese. As we made to leave, we clocked the big screen inside, so grabbed another drink and watched the cyclists roar around Box Hill. As they made their descent, we made our getaway to grab a cheering spot on the bridge (via the ice cream stand). We hooked up with Mr and Mrs B back at Stein's to watch the end of the race, and ended up having more beer and a sharing plate of sausages...
What can I say? Friendly atmosphere, brilliant decor and an amazing menu which requires repeat visits. We're already plotting who else to drag along. It's almost a reason not to move...perhaps we can campaign the owners to open up further down the river...

  2. OMG - I thought I died and gone to heaven when I read this post! High quality beer AND sausages. Normally I would have to travel to two different shops/cities/countries in order to combine these. Thanks for the heads up (or is it raised beer glass).

  4. I've walked past it a number of times but it's never been open so I've haven't seen it 'in action'. After such a positive review, I think we'll have to pay a visit!
