Deadheading

The joy of having a smaller garden is that it's much more manageable. Remember these planters? Well, I've merrily been nipping off the old dahlia heads on my way out in the morning and it's worked a treat - we've got masses of flowers. The salvia on the otherhand are finally done and looking a bit crispy - they've got lots of new growth at the base of each long flower stem, so out came the flower arranging scissors and to quote Lewis Carroll - "off with their heads"! Hopefully, we'll have a second salvia flourish before the summer is out.

  1. Deadheading - even in a small garden like ours - is a job I loathe. Well done on being so disciplined and doing it as you leave the house. Perhaps I should try that! x
