Always needs a donkey, in my view. And some Shetland ponies, ducks, rabbits, chickens, sheep, goats and ferrets. And lots of dogs for the hotly anticipated dog show.
A marquee must be filled with competing marrows, beans, onions, Victoria Sponges, craft and flower arrangements.
There must also be one for dahlias. A whole marquee dedicated to them to ensure colour and form can be admired.
The Littlewick Green Show has been going since 1934. We used to go when I was small and little has changed - horses, vintage cars, second hand stalls, ferret racing, sheepdog demonstrations, music and a beer tent. What more could you ask for?
An impromptu BBQ back at Mum and Dad's, that's what. Mum even managed to rustle up some chocolate brownies from the freezer which went down a treat.
Hope you had a lovely bank holiday. Thank goodness the weather picked up.
