Home grown

Apples from the two trees in our garden, blackberries from the hedgerow at the top of the road. With these beauties we made our first autumnal pud - this amazing Apple and Blackberry Crumble Pie. So easy to throw together - ready made pastry really is such a joy. We opted for a simplified version of the crumble topping - no oats or fancy flour or sugar, just a standard crumble mix together with chopped hazelnuts and almonds.

Our apple trees are laden with fruit, so I have a feeling that this will be the first of many apple related posts...

    I've been dreaming about bramble and apple pie. Bought the apples (and cream), just need to pick some brambles.
