New growth

Now, we all know that I'm not exactly known for having green fingers - Mr M is very much King in that department. I'm all for potting things up, but I have a tendency to get distracted and forget all about them. This year it's going to be different. I've got two amaryllis bulbs on the go - one spiky green, the other red, together with a tub of paper whites (depending on honk, these may be moved to the conservatory).

It's so exciting to have window sills that we can actually put plants on. With daylight. And sun - that is if this dreadful weather ever passes - our old wooden windows are getting more and more swollen by the day. And don't get Mr M started on the Sky dish...that stopped working with the big gusts last week..

  1. I love the smell of paperwhites (which is lucky as I have a big old baking dish full of them on the windowsill). And we have some sun today!

    1. Oo lucky you - storm aplenty in central London today. Scent can be so marmite, can't it. I'm not wild about the perfume of hyacinths and remember the shock that paperwhites smelt identical!!

  2. I planted 3 paperwhites in November with the hope that they would flower for Christmas. One bolted, the other was slow and steady (ready for Christmas!) and the the third did nothing. Although I'm said to be taking the decorations down this weekend, I'm looking forward to the joy of bulbs in January! x
