Schedule of works dinner

Day three using our improvised kitchen. We still have a sink and an oven that we can access at night. During the day, it's all a little sad as the kitchen (and fridge) are out of bounds so we have our ancient teeny tiny butchers block providing storage for the essential spices, coffee, tea, pans, toaster, knives, utensils and kettle. We've been plotting meals for the madness. On Sunday, Mr M made his delicious kofta sausages - we grilled some for dinner and froze the rest. On Monday, we made a huge frittata using the ridiculously large button squash, spinach gnocchi, pecorino, chives and smoked salmon. Hot with salad last night. A cold wedge for Mr M's lunch yesterday. And as Mr M was out for drinks, a cold wedge with salad for dins for me. Tonight kofta wraps with salad. Thursday yellow squash with garden herbs, pancetta and pasta. Friday - we might treat ourselves to a takeaway! This is just the tip of the iceberg - the steel goes in today giving the guys free rein to knock through. Gulp. On the plus side, the house will no longer be held up by four props - you can daylight beneath our master bedroom skirting board at the foot of the bed…

  1. Wow - looks like you're still eating amazingly despite the building site circumstances. We resorted to eating at my parents every night during our renovations. If we hadn't been able to eat there I think I would have spent a fortune on Deliverance takeaways! x

  2. It all sounds delicious! Your cooking even without a kitchen is more impressive than mine is with a kitchen! xx

  3. Is that Major Pettigrew's Last Stand I can spy? Great book choice.
