Day two - Sussex

Day 2 saw us jumping in the car and driving down some magical lanes to get to our first stop in deepest darkest Sussex. Some of you may remember that we finally got our National Trust membership back in April and have been eager to find the time to use it. So, stop number one - Nymans Garden House. Wonderful architecture, beautiful gardens and fantastic outbuildings. I shall let the photos do the talking - sadly, I didn't take a photo of my rather muddy foot (in sandals) post stream hopping gone wrong...squelch.
With stomachs full of ploughman's courtesy of the National Trust restaurant (and a scary sounding bill), we jumped back in the car and made our way past Ardingly Reservoir to stop number two - Wakehurst Place. And goodness, what a place. Part futuristic with the Millennium Seed Bank (Mr M now wants to be a seed scientist) and part old world with manor house and beautiful landscaped gardens. Stonking raspberry yoghurt ice cream too!
So, that was my Day 2. Let's see what Day 3 brings! And thank you for your birthday wishes - I must confess to it not being for a couple more days - it's just that the festivities have started a little early. For those of you who wanted to see the birthday dress, here you go. Rather rubbish photos as my camera was being difficult this afternoon (still haven't read the manual after 2 years...), but this beauty shall be worn at my afternoon tea party next weekend. I love it. I nearly squealed when I found my size on the rail. Mr M waited patiently whilst I tried it on and swirled and twirled. And now that it is home, I can't help but sneak a peek at it every so often. All we need now is marvellous weather next weekend so that I can actually wear it!

Hope you've all had a fantastic weekend. Will let you know what Day 3 holds tomorrow!

  4. Thank you! It's from Ted Baker and has great twirling ability as the skirt is quite full.
